Finding Child Care for Military Kids - February Military Dinner Table Conversation
Are Families Able to Access This Needed Benefit?
I remember adding my child to the Child Development Center (CDC) waitlist in San Diego as soon as my husband received written orders. We joined local Facebook groups to find other child care centers in the area that might be a good fit for our family. We got on those wait lists as well and calculated how much we could afford to pay for me to “get” to work. We decided we could afford to break even for a time to keep my resume active and made it work.
It would be two full years before I got that call from the CDC, right before we were about to move again…
Child care is expensive and hard to come by for all American families. But the military lifestyle presents different challenges and I want to hear from families to understand how things may have changed since COVID. What is working? What isn’t?
Please come prepared to share your experiences getting your child the care they need. If you can’t join us for the event, please register and email me your stories!
